What is intermittent endurance?
This book explains the "intermittent endurance" required for soccer and basketball. It also explains the mechanisms for continuous sprints, the functions of explosive energy supply and waste disposal, and how to train with high-intensity interval training (HIIT). It provides useful information for improving athletic performance.

The effects of alanine and proline help utilize carbohydrate energy to maintain endurance and performance
The amino acids alanine and proline help convert carbohydrates into energy. We explain how they support glycogen utilization during exercise and maintain endurance. We also introduce tips that will help you replenish your energy and maintain your stamina.

"6 Amino Acid Mix for Joint and Tendon Conditioning" supports nutritional support for joints and tendons
This book explains the structure and function of joints and tendons, explains why nutrients are difficult to deliver, and explains the importance of maintaining their condition. It also explains how a mix of six amino acids supports the recovery and flexibility of joints and tendons, helping to support optimal movement.
Effects of sodium aspartate
Sodium aspartate boosts intermittent endurance, allowing you to sprint even later in the race
[Contents of this article]
1. Continuous sprinting requires another ability called intermittent endurance, and intermittent endurance can be improved by increasing explosive energy production and waste removal.
2. Sodium Aspartate boosts intermittent endurance, allowing you to sprint continuously.
3. Sodium aspartate may boost intermittent endurance by affecting waste elimination or burst energy production.
What is "intermittent endurance" that supports continuous sprints?
In game-based sports such as soccer and basketball, players must repeatedly sprint during the game, taking short rest periods between sprints to recover and then sprint again. The ability to repeat such intermittent high-intensity exercise is called intermittent endurance.
Lack of energy and accumulation of waste products reduce performance
During intermittent high-intensity exercise, explosive energy production cannot be sustained, and the accumulation of metabolic waste products makes it difficult for muscles to move, making it difficult to continue sprinting. (Figure 1)
Energy production and metabolic recovery are important for improving intermittent endurance
Therefore, to improve intermittent endurance, it is necessary to increase the ability to produce energy explosively and the ability to eliminate metabolic waste products.

The effects of sodium aspartate | Boosts intermittent endurance and enables continuous sprints
In order to develop a measure to improve the performance of such high-intensity continuous exercise, Ajinomoto Co., Inc., through joint research with Ritsumeikan University, discovered that taking sodium aspartate increases intermittent endurance. For this reason, we named it "instant" boost amino acid. In other words, by drinking "instant" boost amino acid, you can repeat sprints.
Sodium aspartate intake improves athletic performance
The study involved 14 healthy males performing high-intensity intermittent exercise (6-second full-power pedaling exercise x 10 sets x 3 sessions). <Figure 2>

The subjects were asked to take 4g of sodium aspartate (3.1g of aspartic acid), an "instant" boost amino acid, twice. After that, their bicycle pedaling performance was evaluated, and it was found that the performance in the second set improved when the subjects took the "instant" boost amino acid. <Figure 2>

How Sodium Aspartate Works | It May Support Lactic Acid Metabolism and Reduce Fatigue
Promotes lactic acid metabolism to support energy production
It has been reported that this "instant" boost amino acid is related to the metabolism of lactate, a metabolic product of the glycolytic pathway (1), and is presumed to be involved in energy production. We therefore investigated the effects of "instant" boost amino acids in muscle cells, and confirmed that muscle cells to which "instant" boost amino acids were added reduced one of the metabolic waste products during exercise.
Supports endurance by promoting energy production and removing metabolic by-products
From the above, it is suggested that "instant" boost amino acids may boost intermittent endurance by supporting the explosive energy production required during intermittent exercise or by removing metabolic by-products (Figure 4). In the future, we hope to find better ways to use the "instant" boost amino acid sodium aspartate through metabolic analysis, focusing on lactate metabolism.

How to use sodium aspartate and the best time to use it
- The "instant" boost amino acid "Sodium Aspartate" supports muscle performance during continuous high-intensity exercise (Figure 5).
- Recommended for matches where you need to perform at your best, or when you want to push yourself to the end during hard training.
